Altered Nitrogen Availability in Pea–Barley Sole- and Intercrops Changes Dominance of Two Nitrophilic Weed Species

چکیده

Effective and sustainable weed management in agricultural fields is a prerequisite for increasing crop yield without negatively impacting the environment. The aim of this study was to explore how varying nitrogen (N) availability cropping arrangements pea (Pisum sativum) barley (Hordeum vulgare) grown as sole crops intercrops at different fertilization levels considering N sources (soil mineralization, fixation, fertilizer) affects response species with differential responsiveness. Crop biomass were sampled flowering maturity. total content 15N isotope signatures analyzed differentiate between estimate amount available weeds. highly N-responsive (Chenopodium album) accumulated more than reduced responsiveness (Galeopsis spp.). Fertilizer supply favored Chenopodium album, but not crops. Altered soil caused shift dominance nitrophilic towards species. This could affect long-term community composition thus have implications management.

Changes in weed seed banks and the potato yield as affected by different amounts of nitrogen and crop residue

In order to evaluate the impact of crop residues (zero, 25 and 50%) and nitrogen (zero, 125 and 250 kg ha) on weed seed bank and potato yield, two-years research was conducted as a split plot arranged in randomized complete block design in Rozveh Agriculture Research Station, Freidan-Esfahan. Numbers of weed species in seed bank, aboveground, and both seed bank and aboveground were 1, 2 and...

Seasonal changes in leaf nitrogen pools in two Salix species.

Leaf nitrogen distribution pattern was studied four times during the growing season in a 2-year-old Salix viminalis L. and Salix dasyclados Wimm. plantation in Estonia. We measured the vertical distributions of leaf nitrogen concentration, dry mass, leaf area and light environment (as fractional transmission of diffuse irradiance, a(d)) in the canopy. The light-independent nitrogen pool was eva...

Nitrogen metabolism of two contrasting poplar species during acclimation to limiting nitrogen availability

To investigate N metabolism of two contrasting Populus species in acclimation to low N availability, saplings of slow-growing species (Populus popularis, Pp) and a fast-growing species (Populus alba × Populus glandulosa, Pg) were exposed to 10, 100, or 1000 μM NH4NO3. Despite greater root biomass and fine root surface area in Pp, lower net influxes of NH4(+) and NO3(-) at the root surface were ...
